 China, officially known as the People's Republic of China (PRC), is the third-largest country in the world in terms of population, behind only India and the United States. 

China has a population of over 1.35 billion people, which is about 20 percent of the total world population of just over 6 billion people.

What is the National Animal of China? According to Wikipedia, the National Animal of China is the giant panda. This, however, is not entirely accurate. While the giant panda is China's symbol, it is not the National Animal. 

The national animal of China is the dragon. Although the dragon is a mythical creature, it fits the bill for a national animal, which is not necessarily an animal that exists in the real world, but one which represents a nation.

The award was established by the Constitution of India, and the recipient is announced every year on India's Republic Day, in a list prepared by the Prime Minister. It is conferred by the President of India. The Bharat Ratna (literally, the jewel of India) is the highest civilian award of the Republic of India. Instituted in 1954, the award is bestowed for "distinguished service of the highest order" without distinction of race, occupation, position, or sex.  The award was originally restricted to achievements in the arts, literature, and science, but the government expanded the criteria to include "any field of human endeavor". Awardees receive a "Sanad" (certificate) signed by the President and a medallion without any monetary grant.
